The new Spinomed back orthosis for the active treatment of osteoporotic vertebral body fractures
The Spinomed back orthosis sets new standards in the functional therapy of osteoporotic vertebral body fractures: the patient receives a multifunctional orthosis that mobilizes him safely, effectively, easily and comfortably in everyday life.
Spinomed is a back orthosis that actively helps to strengthen the trunk muscles and thereby relieve and correct the lumbar and thoracic spine in the sagittal plane (plane on which the spine moves in the direction of curvature and straightening). It is suitable, among other things, for vertebral fractures of the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae. Other indications that require relief and/or correction of the lumbar and thoracic spine:
- Juvenile Scheuermann's disease, a growth disorder of the spine that can lead to poor posture and pain
- Round back with chronic back pain
The less an aid is noticeable, the more the patient prefers to wear it. The new Spinomed back orthosis was developed with this in mind.
Unique on the market - the new pivot joint:
The innovative pivot joint is the rotating connection between the hip belt and the back rail and thus ensures that the orthosis fits perfectly. That means: Excellent freedom of movement combined with excellent wearing comfort. The Spinomed allows the user more mobility in everyday life and leisure time.
Proven harness system - now even better: Thanks to the ergonomically pre-formed shoulder straps with a large opening, the new Spinomed can be put on and taken off as easily as a backpack. The improved shoulder straps ensure that the patient is straightened up as indicated during the adjustment. The flexible shoulder pads ensure a comfortable fit thanks to the soft material.
Further highlights of the new Spinomed:
- The optimized size system ensures an even more patient-friendly fitting with an improved fit in movement.
- Thanks to the ventilation channels and soft materials, the new back padding ensures pleasant climate management with high wearing comfort.
- Thanks to the structured strap arrangement and gripping aids for closing the orthosis, handling is easy for the patient.
- The orthopedic technician can take the aluminum back splint out of the bag for adjustment and adjust it to the spine without tools.
Osteoporosis patients with a fracture of the lumbar or thoracic spine often exhibit incorrect posture: The fracture of the vertebral bodies can lead to a curvature of the upper back - a bad posture that causes the upper body to tend to tilt forward. The Spinomed orthosis uses the biofeedback principle to counteract this: The back orthosis uses the resistance of the shoulder straps and the back splint to remind the body to stand up on its own. This leads to a more upright posture and has been shown to increase
- Reduction / elimination of pain and tendency to sway.
- Improving vital capacity and quality of life.
- Strengthening of the abdominal and back muscles.
In addition, a representative patient survey3 proves the subjective therapy benefit of Spinomed:
- 94 percent of the participants would recommend Spinomed.
- Approximately two thirds confirmed that the Spinomed contributes to improved mobility or an increase in the quality of life and offers a high level of wearing comfort.
- More than half reported pain relief from wearing the brace.
