Varius and valgus knee orthosis for relief
Axis malpositions are possible triggers for joint problems such as gonarthrosis. The knee joint of patients with a varus deformity has the appearance of bowlegs. The inside of the knee usually hurts. A valgus deformity caused by a knock knee can hurt the outside of the knee. With the M.4®s OA comfort knee orthosis, the varus and valgus relief can be easily and individually adjusted. The mechanism is based on natural joint movements. Experts therefore also refer to them as varus and valgus orthoses.
Thanks to the 3-point relief principle, the knee orthosis keeps the joint in the correct axis, so that the pressure on the painful side of the joint is reduced. Patients benefit from noticeable pain relief. In addition, the M.4®s OA comfort contains an extensive padding set for individual adjustment to the knee. Double-layer condyle pad covers can reduce friction points on the skin due to the easy sliding between the two layers of material. At the same time, the knee orthosis offers an improved fit due to the movable thigh clamp.
The indications for which the M.4®s OA comfort can be helpful include:
- Severe medial or lateral gonarthrosis (at least grade III) in connection with complex ligament instability
- before HTO (conversion osteotomy) for unicompartmental relief in severe gonarthrosis (brace test)
- after cartilage surgery or cartilage reconstruction
- after meniscus surgery
The 3-point relief principle supports the knee. At the same time, the 4-point stabilization principle ensures stability. M.4®s OA comfort counteracts the knee breaking out into the malposition during movement and relieves it. As a result, there is a reduction in pain, which means that the patient can be more mobile in everyday life again. The flat and light frame construction of the M.4®s OA comfort offers high wearing comfort - also comfortable under clothing. The strap loops adapt flexibly with movement and support the correct fit on the leg.
product benefits
- Relief of the lateral or medial compartment through the 3-point relief principle
- Stabilization of the knee joint using the 4-point stabilization principle
- Individually and easily adjustable varus / valgus relief via adjustment joints close to the joint
- Improved fit: The articulated thigh clamp adapts to different shapes of the thigh - especially during movement.
- High wearing comfort: Double-layer condylar pad covers can reduce friction points on the skin due to the easy gliding between the two layers of material.
- Anatomically preformed and torsion-resistant frame geometry.
- Numbered straps for easy and safe handling
- Extensive wedge set for flexible extension and flexion limitation
- The movable belt loops adapt flexibly to movement and support the correct fit of the orthosis on the leg.
Limitation options:
- Extension: 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
- Flexion: 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, 90°
- Immobilization: 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
indications
All indications that require relief of a compartment according to the 3-point principle, physiological guidance and stabilization according to the 4-point principle and possibly a restriction of movement of the knee joint, such as:
- Severe medial or lateral gonarthrosis (at least grade III) in connection with complex ligament instability
- Before HTO (transition osteotomy) for unicompartmental relief in severe gonarthrosis (brace test)
- After cartilage surgery or cartilage reconstruction
- After meniscus surgery
