The CAREPUR Semi-Fowler Pillow is a U-shaped pillow with a raised central section that is multifunctional and can be used to support different areas of the body.
The main use of the semi-fowler pillow is in the supine position of the patient. It is used to position the head and shoulders, with the raised central part of the pillow positioning the head securely and the side extensions of the pillow effectively relieving the shoulder blades. This lying position prevents hyperextension of the head and improves self-awareness.
The cushion can also be used in the area of the lower extremities.
Applied below the knees and with the side extensions under the thighs in the supine position, the raised middle section ensures abduction in the knee area and serves to relieve pressure in the hip area. From the application described, the pillow can also be rotated by 180° so that the padding of the knees remains, the lower legs are guided and the heels are freely supported.
Another possible use of the cushion is in wheelchairs. The pillow is turned by 180°, the actual support surface is now facing upwards, the raised middle part can thus produce an abduction of the knees and the straight support surface can be used to guide and stabilize the forearms. The side parts of the cushion also lie against the user's pelvis and help to stabilize the sitting Position.
